Today, we are drowning in news and news sources. Yet the public remains uninformed, doing its own research on news it doesn’t trust. In the rush for clicks, the news has stopped providing background, evidence, or informed judgment.

We don’t need more information – we need the right information. Unvarnished adds context that illuminates. Each thread provides clear and concise background on a single topic, with direct evidence that grounds the news in a foundation of facts.

(Semi-)Social Media

Unvarnished is expert-powered social media, drawing knowledge from everywhere to provide context as fast as the news. Instead of the hidden or unsupported bias that permeates much media, our threads make transparent arguments that stand or fall on the evidence.

But we’re cutting out the worst parts of social media. You don’t need an account to read Unvarnished, because we’re not selling your data. There is no algorithm to reward ragebait or manipulate your attention. And in a world full of propaganda, all threads are validated for accuracy, honesty, and credibility.
